THIS WEEK IN MUSTANG SPORTS (JAN 26-21) • The swim team competed at Southmont on Tuesday, earning several 1st place finishes: 200 Medley Relay (Brody Larkin, Gage Harrison, William Armstrong, Eli Sowder), 200 Free (Dallin Johnson), 200 IM (Harrison), 50 Free (Larkin), Diving (Armstrong), 100 Free (Larkin), 200 Free Relay (Larkin, Harrison, Armstrong, Sowder), 100 Backstroke (Sowder), & 100 Breaststroke (Harrison). Great job guys. • In Girls’ swimming & diving vs Southmont, the girls were shorthanded due to injuries and illness, but still had some strong finishes: 200 Medley Relay – 1st (Madison King, Lilly Peterson, Hayley Kler, Allie Dotson), 500 Free – 1st (Peterson), Diving – 1st (Esme Muniz). The girls also received several 2nd place finishes as they prepare for the WRC Finals on Saturday morning at Attica. • Mustang Wrestling defeated Bismarck-Henning 49-30 Thursday night. Winning matches for the Mustangs were Ryder Ford, Bryn Simmons, Alan Melchor, Dakoda Willoughby, Xavier Richardson, Caylum Wills, Keyton Beard, and Colby Parrish-Poore. This was the last regular season meet for the Mustangs as they prepare for the sectional next Saturday at Crawfordsville. • The Mustang Boys’ Basketball team are coming off back-to-back WRC wins last weekend, as they host Crawfordsville Tonight. Crawfordsville comes in with a record of 8-4. JV tipoff will be at 6pm. • The girls’ basketball team improved to 18-2 with a 50-32 win over Parke Heritage on Thursday. Bella Bacon led the Mustangs with 22 points. The Lady Mustangs are currently #12 in 1A in the state in the ICGSA class rankings. Next Tuesday, they will host South Vermillion in the final regular season game. With a win, the Lady Mustangs will secure a share of the conference title for the first time since 2017. The girls’ basketball sectional draw is Sunday, Jan 25, at 6pm on IHSAAtv.org. • Mustang Swimming & Diving WRC are tomorrow morning at Attica. The diving competition begins at 9am, as William Armstrong goes for his 3rd consecutive WRC diving championship. Swim finals will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the morning diving competition. • The winter semi-formal dance is tomorrow night, Saturday, January 24. • Saturday is the birthday of the MVP of the athletic department – TAMMY PYLE. Happy Birthday to Tammy, and thank you for all you do for Mustang students!
