Jackie Weber’s Big Day Propels Fountain Central softball Past Lafayette Central Catholic Jackie Weber drove in four runs on five hits to lead Fountain Central past Lafayette Central Catholic 19-5 on Thursday. Weber doubled in the fifth scoring two, doubled in the first scoring one, and tripled in the fourth scoring one. Fountain Central Varsity Mustangs jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Oliviah Jones grounded out, scoring one run, Kynleigh Elkins tripled, scoring two runs, Kyra Kiger drew a walk, scoring one run, Braelynn Brooker singled, scoring two runs, and Weber doubled, scoring one run. The Mustangs added one run in the second after Elkins grounded into a fielder's choice. FC scored eight runs on four hits in the top of the fifth inning. Mallory Massey tripled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Hannah Lee induced Braelynn Kiger to hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs scored, Weber doubled, scoring two runs, and Patience Bixler doubled, scoring two runs. Bixler earned the win for the Mustangs. The hurler gave up six hits and five runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out one and walking three. FC accumulated 18 hits in the game. Bixler, Keylee Stonebraker, and Massey each collected multiple hits for the Mustangs. Massey and Elkins each stole multiple bases for the Mustangs. FC ran wild on the base paths, accumulating eight stolen bases for the game. Next up for Fountain Central Varsity Mustangs is a game against Crawfordsville on Saturday.
