Fountain Central Lady Mustangs Win Sectional 53 Championship. The 34-11 win over Faith Christian earned this group of girls their first sectional title and the first one in 11 years for the program. The Lady Mustangs finished regular season play with the number one defensive average in the entire state. They backed up their ranking with their play in tonight's win. The Mustangs defense caused havoc for the Eagles by only allowing them to score 3 points with just a little under two minutes left in the first half. The Lady Mustangs rotation and communication on that end of the floor forced a total of 18 turnovers. Fountain Central was led on the offensive end of the floor by Aubrey Ashwill. She earned another double double on the season finishing with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and also had a steal. Bella Bacon followed with 7 points and 4 rebounds on the evening, Kendyl Nolan finished the game with 5 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, a block, and an assist. Cadence White also earned 5 points, a rebound, and an assist. Henley Good contributed with 6 assists, 4 points, 2 rebounds, and her vocal leadership on the floor. Citrus Wesley’s lock down defense really helped the Mustangs momentum. She rounds out the scoring for the Mustangs with 3 points. She also earned 2 steals, 2 assists, and a rebound. The Lady Mustangs will continue their post season play as they will take on North Miami this coming Saturday. Time and location will be announced at a later date.
