Fountain Central picked up another home win Saturday night by beating Benton Central 44-38. This is only the second time in 20 years that they Mustangs have beating the Bison. The first half was battle for both teams. Benton Central's swarming defense did a good job of frustrating the Mustangs early on. Some foul trouble hurt the Bison in the first half and allowed the Mustangs to keep it close, as the score was FC 16-BC 17 going into halftime. Coach Lefevre stressed at halftime how import the first 3 minutes of the second half was going to be in a tight game like this. The Mustangs responded by having a good start to the second half. The fourth quarter and especially the last 4 minutes of the game is where Fountain Central played some of their best basketball of the season. The Mustangs were able to handle the trapping defense of the Bison very well. Noah Dodson had some huge offensive rebounds toward the end and Laine Hester went 3 for 4 from the line to help seal the victory for the Mustangs. The Mustangs were led in scoring by Eli Foxworthy with 21 points. The Mustangs will travel to take on bitter rival Covington on Thursday.
