The Lady Mustangs finished regular-season play with a season-high 73 points, clinching their spot atop the Wabash River Conference with a victory over South Vermillion. The Mustangs forced 26 turnovers and out-rebounded their opponent 22–11. Several Mustangs played key roles in the win. Leading the way was Kendyl Nolan, who recorded 21 points, 4 steals, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and a block. Cadence White had a strong night, finishing with 12 points, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 3 rebounds. Aubrey Ashwill contributed 11 points, 3 steals, and a rebound. Citrus Wesley played a well-rounded game with 9 points, 7 assists, 6 steals, and 4 rebounds. Bella Bacon added 6 points, 2 steals, and 2 rebounds, while Cassandra Wildman also scored 6 points and tallied 2 steals and a rebound. Kynleigh Elkins came off the bench and played with fire, finishing with 6 steals, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, and 2 points. Lilly Gregory contributed 3 rebounds and 2 points. Makayla Carnahan added 2 points, an assist, and a rebound, and Jailynn Wolverton finished the evening with 2 points as well. The Lady Mustangs round out regular-season play with an impressive record of 19–2. Fountain Central earned a bye in the first round of Sectional 53 at North Vermillion High School and will face the winner of the Covington vs. Attica first-round matchup in the semifinal round on Friday at 6:00 p.m. Come out and support your Lady Mustangs as they begin their road to a sectional title!
