Fountain Central earned a piece of the Wabash River Conference title with a big win over the Parke Heritage Wolves. They started the game off hot, knocking down some big shots in the first half. The Lady Mustangs went at halftime with a 19-16 lead, but came out and work to increase the margin greatly. They remained poised while taking care of the basketball to get great looks, and the defensive effort was through the roof. The Mustangs were able to outscore their opponents 31-16 in the second half, and finish with a score of 50-32. The communication and hustle from our leadership was more impressive than the margin of victory, and several Mustangs played a key role in the win. Leading the way with 22 points, going 5 for 5 from the free throw line, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and a block was Bella Bacon. Henley Good followed with 9 points, also going 5 for 5 from the free throw line. She also finished with 5 assists, 4 steals, and a rebound. Freshman, Citrus Wesley, played her best game to date on both ends of the floor. She finished the evening with 9 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Kendyl Nolan finished the evening with 6 points, 2 steals, and 2 rebounds. Aubrey Ashwill earned 2 points in the win this evening. Even more impressively Aubrey made her presence known as she battled inside pulling down 10 rebounds. Cadence White gave some quality minutes taking care of the basketball, pulling in 2 rebounds, and going 2 for 2 from the free throw line. The Lady Mustangs round out their regular season play at home on Tuesday, January 27. They will face off against their final conference foe South Vermillion. Junior varsity will play a full game. Tip off is set for 6:00 pm, and the varsity game will follow.
