Basketball (Girls V) Scores

The Lady Mustangs basketball team started their return from a break with a really solid performance. They earned the 62-31 victory on the road against the Western Boone Stars. The Mustangs got after it early jumping to a 19-4 lead by pushing the tempo on both ends of the floor. They finished the first half up 10, but with a dominant second half the Mustangs were able to pull away. They forced the Stars into 33 turnovers. Leading the way in the team win with 15 points, 7 steals, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and a block was Bella Bacon. She went 2 for 2 from the free throw as well as 3 for 4 from the 3 point line. Kendyl Nolan followed with 11 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and an assist. Henley Good also scored 11 points for the Mustangs going 2 for 2 from the 3 point line. She also had 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Cadence White’s first varsity start of the season for the Mustangs went really well. She connected on a couple of threes early and finished 4 for 4 from the free throw line finishing the evening with 10 points, a rebound, and a steal. Citrus Wesley played a well rounded game scoring 7 points, meaning 7 assists, pulling in 6 rebounds, finishing with 6 steals, and a block. Aubrey Ashwill’s defensive presence was felt in the win tonight. She had several great stops on that end of the floor. Aubrey finished the evening with 7 rebounds, 5 points, 4 steals, and a block. Kynleigh Elkins scored a layup late in the fourth quarter. Cassandra Wildman rounds out the play for the Mustangs. She pulled in 6 rebounds and hit a free throw. The Lady Mustangs are back in action at home on Saturday, January 10. They will face off against conference opponent, Attica. It is a varsity only match up and tip off is set for 10:00 am.
